The Splash Club Community Guidelines

The Splash Club exists to host public, readable, human discussion.

It’s a place to publish thoughts, ideas, work, and links without fighting algorithms, ads, or engagement games.
These guidelines exist to protect signal quality — not to control expression.

1. One Account, Used Honestly

Use a single account and use it honestly.

You’re free to choose your name, branding, or alias — artist names, project names, and pseudonyms are all fine, as long as they aren’t offensive.

What’s not allowed:

  • multiple accounts used to manipulate discussion, ratings, or visibility
  • bots or automated posting
  • impersonation or deceptive behavior

The goal isn’t to police identity. It’s to keep conversations real.

2. Write Like Your Words Will Stick

They will.

Disagreement is welcome.
Dismissiveness, pile-ons, and performative snark are not.

Respond to ideas, not people.
Write like this conversation might still matter a year from now.

3. Promotion Is Allowed. Spam Is Not.

You are allowed to promote your work. That’s part of the point.

If you share a link:

  • add context
  • explain why it exists
  • share what you learned
  • invite discussion

Dropping links without substance lowers the signal and may be marked as spam.

4. Post With Intent

Don’t post just to fill space.
Don’t comment to race visibility.

This isn’t a feed. Nothing is buried for being late.
Take the extra minute to make it worth reading.

5. Chronological Discussion Is Sacred

Comment threads are always sorted newest to oldest.

No ranking.
No engagement weighting.
No boosted replies.

Discussion unfolds in real time, not by performance.

6. No Hate or Harassment

Zero tolerance for:

  • hate speech
  • slurs
  • threats
  • targeted harassment

This isn’t edgy. It’s low-effort. And it’s removed immediately.

7. Explicit ≠ Gratuitous

Adult language or themes are fine when they serve the work or discussion.

Shock-for-attention, pornographic material, or illegal content isn’t allowed.
Use judgment. If it exists only to provoke, it doesn’t belong here.

8. Creative Ownership Matters

Don’t steal work.
Don’t repost without permission.
Credit sources clearly when quoting, sampling, or referencing.

Plagiarism or misuse of others’ work is removed without debate.

9. Moderation Philosophy

Moderation is manual and transparent.

If content lowers the quality of the public feed, it may be:

  • marked as spam
  • hidden from discovery

It will remain visible on your profile.
We don’t rewrite history. We manage signal.

Repeated issues can lead to warnings, restrictions, or removal.

10. Appeals & Feedback

If you think a moderation decision missed the mark, reach out directly:

steven@splashyrecords.com

You’ll get a human response. No automation. No black box.

11. What This Place Is (and Isn’t)

The Splash Club is not optimized for:

  • virality
  • outrage
  • dunking
  • engagement tricks

It is optimized for:

  • visibility over time
  • readable discussions
  • intentional promotion
  • real people showing up consistently

If that sounds slower — it is. On purpose.

Communities & Tags

The Splash Club is organized by communities and tags.

  • Communities are curated views of the same daily feed
  • Tags determine where a thread appears
  • Use 3–7 tags per thread
  • Community tags help with discovery, but custom tags are encouraged
  • Assosiated community tags are subject to change and may be added or removed frequently.

You control how your signal is broadcast.

Final Note

The Splash Club is a radio tower, not a feed.

These guidelines exist to keep the signal clear —
so when someone takes the time to write, it actually gets heard.

Independent. Direct. Human.
